SSL helps secure your website by enabling HTTPS. It protects information shared between your website and visitors, and also helps build trust with customers.
A secure website usually shows a padlock icon in the browser address bar.
To enable SSL:
- Log in to your hosting control panel.
- Find the SSL/TLS or SSL Certificates section.
- Select your domain name.
- Install or activate the SSL certificate.
- Wait for the SSL installation to complete.
- Check your website using
https://yourdomain.com.au.
After SSL is installed, your website may still need to be redirected from HTTP to HTTPS. This ensures visitors always land on the secure version of your website.
For WordPress websites, you may also need to update your website URL settings to HTTPS.
If your SSL is not working, common reasons include:
- Domain DNS is not pointing correctly.
- SSL certificate is still pending.
- Website is loading mixed HTTP content.
- HTTPS redirect is not configured.
